      The next meeting of the Elected Committee of Blind Managers will occur at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 6, 2017, at the Iowa Department for the Blind, 524 Fourth Street, Des Moines, Iowa. The tentative agenda is as follows:

      The next commission board meeting is scheduled for Friday, May 12th at 9:00 am in the Director’s Conference Room at the Iowa Department for the Blind.

      Access to Helpful Tools and Devices

      NOTICE - STORE HOURS CHANGE FEBRUARY 6, 2017: Effective the week of February 6, the Aids & Devices Store will be open with reduced hours for walk-in service. The new hours will be from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.

      NOTICE: The digital book cartridges sold in Aids and Devices are out of stock.  The cartridges will not be available until July.

      A display of Braille watches in the Aids & Devices Store is pictured.There is a wide array of tools and devices available to help make common, everyday tasks easier for someone adjusting to vision loss.The Iowa Department for the Blinds sells many of these useful assistive devices at cost to Iowans in our Aids & Devices Store. It is conveniently located off the main reception area on the first floor of our headquarters building in Des Moines. Customers can make purchases in person, by telephone, email, or through the mail. Payment may be made by cash, check, or credit card (Discover, MasterCard, or VISA; $5 minimum credit card purchase).
