Upward Writing Slate
Artifact Description
This upward writing slate required the use of a hollow stylus. Instead of punching paper into pits, the hollow stylus forced the paper to form caps over the raised metal dots of the Braille cell. The advantage of this method of writing is presumed to be the ability to read what you have written without removing the paper from the slate.
