On January 3, 2014, Keri Osterhaus became the new Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) Program Supervisor.
A member of the Iowa Department for the Blind (IDB) team for over 10 years, Keri has already provided outstanding services to blind Iowans while serving as a Transition Specialist for IDB's Transition Program since November of 2002. In 2011 she was recognized as the IDB Employee of the Year and has demonstrated leadership skills by serving on various committees including the Iowa Coalition for Integrated Employment, the Special Education Advisory Panel, and the Deaf-Blind Advisory Committee.
Keri earned her NOMC in 2008 and she received her Master’s Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling from Drake University in May of 2011. Keri is a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor and she continues to pursue training opportunities in Vocational Rehabilitation to enhance her knowledge in the field. She is currently participating in the RSA Traineeship for the Graduate Certificate Program in Applied Counseling and Human Services (Career Planning and Placement for Youth with Disabilities).
Her outstanding work ethic, energy and leadership skills will serve Keri well as she transitions to her new position. She will be a tremendous addition to the management team and we looking forward to her contributions towards providing outstanding Vocational Rehabilitation services to blind Iowans.
As Keri assumes her new role as new VR Program Supervisor, husband Terry Osterhaus makes a transition of his own. Terry has resigned from his Vocational Rehabilitation counselor position and will conclude his employment with IDB on January 2, 2014. Terry has provided excellent VR services to his clients for the last 8 years and served as a very valuable member of the IDB team. Terry will be missed and we wish him the very best in his future endeavors.
