Hilker-Pedretti grant aids services to blind Iowans

A grant given to the Iowa Department for the Blind will help agency staff provide services to Iowans with vision loss. On November 9, 2015, the Hilker-Pedretti Charitable Foundation generously awarded the Department a check in the amount of $16,300.00 after a grant application was submitted by the Independent Living Program Administrator Kimberley Barber. The foundation was set up through the generosity of families of Lois and Clarence Hilker and Alma Pedretti. The Hilker-Pedretti grant funds will be used to purchase various aids, devices, and equipment for the Independent Living (IL) program. IL Rehabilitation Teachers and the IL Rehabilitation Technology Specialist will use the supplies for assessment and demonstration purposes as well as training program clients.
