      IDB staff grows in May

      Three new staff member joined the ranks of employees at the Iowa Department for the Blind (IDB) during May.

      Kathy Kroon

      Kathy KroonKathy Kroon joined the IDB staff on May 11 as a Rehabilitation Teacher and will be based in Johnson County. 

      Kathy earned her graduate degree in Rehabilitation Teaching from Northern Illinois University in 1997 and she obtained a BS degree in Music Therapy from Nazareth College in 1990.

      Siouxland Blindness Works Conference 2010

      South Dakota agency for the blind and visually impaired talks to conference attendees.More than 100 employers and blind and visually impaired Siouxland area residents came to Sioux City April 21 to learn about assistive technology for the blind and to create employment opportunities for the blind.

      Another great Iowa Braille Challenge

      Iowa Braile Challenge 2015 Pep Rally remarks by Director Richard Sorey draw a hearty response.Eighteen blind and visually impaired youth came from across the state to the Iowa Department for the Blind (IDB) in Des Moines on Saturday, February 7, 2015, to match their Braille skills in the 9th annual Iowa Braille Challenge.
