Biography

James Jensen is a resident of Danville, Iowa, married, and has two children. He grew up in Northwestern Iowa before relocating to the southeastern part of the state in 2001.

James graduated from the Iowa School for the Deaf in 2000 and earned his associate degree from Southeastern Community College in 2004. He worked at Shearer’s Food Store from 2005 to 2020.

He enjoys disc golf and supporting his children in their sports activities. His personal motto is: “Stay positive and strong, and you will succeed in your future goals.”

An active member of the DeafBlind community, James is one of IDB’s clients and will be a featured speaker during Iowa DeafBlind Awareness Week. He will share his experiences on Wednesday, June 25, at 11:30 a.m. James encourages others in the DeafBlind community to pursue independence through programs like those offered by the Helen Keller National Center.
